Winter activities in Oslo
Not many capital cities can offer a complete alpin skireresort just minutes away from the city centre. Oslo has during the winter months been associated with ski jumping in Holmenkollen, but the city can offer a lot of different activities for winter fun. Great skiing, both down-hill and cross country, tobogganing, Nordic walking, horse sleigh rides, biathlon and hot chocolate in a lavvo are some of the activities offered in the forests around Oslo. In winter you can combine winter sport with pulsating nightlife, world famous museums and attractions, great shopping and high-class cuisine.
Oslo offers more than 50 different museums and art galleries. Among internationally known museums are the Munch Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, the Polar ship Fram Museum, The Viking Ship Museum, the National Gallery, the Nobel Peace Center, the Norwegian Folk Museum, the Vigeland Sculpture Park and Museum and the Holmenkollen ski-jump, featuring the world’s oldest ski museum and one of the best panoramic views of Oslo. Many of these museums can arrange receptions or guided tours.
