Holmenkollen - outdoor paradise and arena for large sport events

Langrenn

Holmenkollen is the hill you see on the north western side of Oslo, and here you’ll find one of the most popular recreational areas in the city; Nordmarka. Especially Tryvann and Frognerseteren are great starting points for hikes and trips summer and winter alike. The area is easily accessible by metro from the city centre, and you only need 20-30 minutes to move from the hustle and bustle in city to the peace and tranquillity of the forest. The view from the metro on the way up the hill is actually worth the trip alone.

During summer there are great opportunities for hiking, cycling, canoeing and fishing. You can spend the night at one of the many sports huts in the forest, or you can put up your own tent or sleep under the Oslo sky! During winter you can walk endless miles on your cross-country skis; either during the day or in floodlit trails in the evening. If you are looking for some more excitement, try the alpine slopes at Oslo Winter Park Tryvann or Oslo’s longest toboggan run, Korketrekkeren.

In addition to beautiful nature, Oslo’s top attraction is located up here; Holmenkollen Ski Museum and Ski jump. Experience the Holmenkollen Ski Festival with international sport stars, or visit the tower giving you an excellent view of the city! Here you also find the world’s oldest ski museum, really worth a visit.

Holmenkollen also offers several modern and top class conference hotels; hotels providing the perfect and unique setting for your meeting or conference.
