After three successful Culture Nights, the popular event is back thsi Friday night. Oslo's official buildings and culture institutions will open their doors for inhabitants and tourists, and over 100 institutions are ready for what should be a fantastic evening in Oslo.
Culture Night offers varied and exciting cultural experiences for the whole family:
Go on an opera cruise with S/S Johanna, see the Andy Warhol exhibition at the Astrup Fearnley Museum and the Scream/Madonna exhibition at the Munch Museum, try Bollywood dancing at the Deichman library, go indoor ice skating in Jordal Amfi or play street football (soccer) in Roald Amundsens gate, or try one of the dozens of other activities.
Over 25,000 people participated in last year's event, and the organisers are expecting even more people this year. The opening show in Spikersuppa (between Parliament and the National Theatre) starts at 7 pm and features some of Norway's most popular artists. There will also be fireworks at 11 pm.
To participate in Oslo Culture Night, you need a free Culture Night token, which are now available from participating venues. The Culture Night token also gives you free public transport in Oslo from 6 pm until 1 am on Culture Night. The special night buses are not included.
