Farewell to a Giant

From 1 September the Holmenkollen Arena will be closed to the public, and shortly after the work starts to deconstruct this giant in modern skiing history. Over the next two years the construction of the new Holmenkollen Arena will be a tourist attraction in itself.

The new Holmenkollen Arena will certainly raise quite a few eyebrows as it emerges in the view of the city below. At a press conference on 6 August, the Commissioner for Business Development and Sports Facilities announced that the ski jump itself will be even larger than originally planned, with a new hill size of K120. This means that ski jumpers can jump as far as 140 meters in the new Holmenkollen.

The national arena will be closed as of 1 September due to security reasons and the progress of the construction work. Visitors will not be able to access the arena as of this date.

But you can follow the development closely on the Municipality of Oslo homepage: Holmenkollen
