Christian Radich

Christian Radich is an old, beautiful sailing ship. It is located at Akershusutstikkeren when it's not out on the sea. There is normally no entrance inside the ship, only for groups on request. From the kiosk at the dock, you can sign up for membership in Friends of Christian Radich and buy souvenirs.

Christian Radich was a cavalry officer, managing director of a sawmill and ship owner in Kristiania (now Oslo) - and a great sail training ship enthusiast. In 1884, decided to donate NOK 90.000,- to the building of a new sailing training ship. The only condition was that the ship must carry his name. The ship has had a dramatic history as a sail trining ship since the launching in 1937. From 1999 and on, the ship has been on the charter market as well as sailing with paying trainees to foreign ports on summer trips, participating in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races and large sail events in various European ports.
