Andy Warhol at the Astrup Fearnley Museum

On Saturday 13 September the exhibition "Andy Warhol by Andy Warhol" opens at the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art. Forty-four of Warhol's masterpieces will be on display until 14 December.

The exhibition includes masterpieces from the period 1962-1984. Some of the paintings have not been exhibited for several years. In addition the audience can experience one of Andy Warhol's sculptures and the installation Silver Clouds, four wallpapers, eleven of Warhol's films and two TV shows.

Andy Warhol's great masterpieces revolutionised the notion of art by transforming the way the public understands the practice of art making. Andy Warhol encapsulated the consumer society of his time by integrating the leading images, hopes and aspirations of post-war America into his art. He did so with such authority and conviction that his art and persona became brands in their own right.

The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is located in Dronningens gate 4 in the Oslo city centre, and admission is free. The official exhibition opening is on Saturday 13 September at 2 pm.
